Dear members of the Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases,

It is a great honor for me to be appointed as a ‘President’ of ‘The Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases’ proud of its long history and tradition. I thank all members of our society again for the appointment.

Our ‘Academy’ has been growing gradually and continuously. In 2021, we intended to hold ‘The 26th Congress of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR)’, however the congress had to be postponed to 2022 due to the unprecedented pandemic of COVID-19 virus. Many other activities of the academy are being cancelled or delayed as well.

Dear Members of our Academy,
We need to cope with such an unprecedented situation of COVID-19 prudently. The academic activities are currently employing on-line media to facilitate sustainable activities of our ‘Academy’, and I expect such efforts would be contributing to the continuous progress of our society.

For the tenure of one year as a president of our society, I’ll be participating in making efforts for further advancement of our ‘Academy’ as a global one, by following advices from Vice-Presidnt Park Jae-yong and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of our academy including Director Shim Jae-jeong. I also expect all members of our society would be gladly participating in all activities of our ‘Academy’.
