One of the objectives of the Academy was to educate health professionals who could contribute to the control of tuberculosis. In 1967, the tuberculosis specialist system was organized and it gave effect to tuberculosis specialist training program. Currently, the trainings are offered by National Medical Center, Hanyang University Hospital, and National Masan Hospital. The Academy is actively involved in tuberculosis specialist training program interms of direction and supervision, and was committed to the responsibility of conducting specialist qualification examination by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Since producing the first batch of 74 specialists in 1967, the Academy has succeeded in qualifying a total of 222 specialists to date.
